Meet Ravindra Jadeja of Kashmir: Javid Ahmad (Jadu)

Srinagar, April 16: With a slow left-arm action, Javid loops the ball up, the batsman comes forward, balls turn’s, and the wicketkeeper behind dislodges the bails. The batsman is given out and Javid pumps his fist into the air. That is what description I got from watching Javid Jadu’s video.

Javid exactly seems a copy-paste of Ravindra Jadeja, star Indian all-rounder, and Javid is a die-hard fan of him. Javid can bat too like his idol and is also known for possessing great fielding skills.

Javid like all the other kids in his area started playing cricket from an early age. With no resources available, Javid decided to do it for himself. He met Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, himself a cricket enthusiast. Both developed good friendships and he became his mentor. He helped him every way. Then, Jaddu joined State Cricket Academy run by Abid Nabi. There, Jaddu was groomed, and presently he is in demand everywhere.

When Javid had discussed choosing cricket as a career with his father, he had got a No straight from him. His father told him, There is no future in cricket, stop wasting your precious time. Get back to studies, which is often the case with other cricketers of the valley. Some come over it and some don’t. A sad tale in itself. But, when Javid decided to give it a try, his father couldn’t hold him back. After representing J&K at the national level 8 times, Javid’s Father is now happy and wants his son to continue like he is. He does believe now, that my son has a future ahead. Jadu is a star cricketer in a local cricketer. He has taken over 400+ wickets and has also 60+ wickets at the National level too.

Presently he is part of the Sangham Cricket Club where all the management has provided him with the best of facilities. He represents different clubs across the valley in local cricket. With his exploits with the ball, Javid has managed to win countless player of the match and player of the tournament awards.

Javid is thankful to Fayaz Sir, Wajahat Sir, Fayaz Hazari Sir, Imran Haroon, Mansoor Sir, Shuban Sir, and all those people who have supported him till date.

Javid has set his sights to represent the J&K Ranji team in the coming years and one can only assume till that.
