DC Sumbal beat DC Handwara by 39 runs
Srinagar, Feb 15: In the on going Inter college Rolling Trophy T20 Cricket tournament at Islamia College, Degree College Sumbal team defeated Degree College Handwara by 39 runs.
Earlier, after winning the toss Sumbal captain decided to bat first and scored 177 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. Suhail with 34 and Irfan with 30 runs were the prominent scorers for them. For Handwara Rashid took 3, while Zahoor and Irfan Rasheed took 2 wickets each.
Chasing a target of 178 runs Handwara batsmen could score only 138 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. For them Haseeb ul Haq top scored with 46 runs and Sahil and Majid contributed with 29 and 25 runs respectively.
For Sumbal College Shiekh Sahil and Shakeel took 1 wicket each. Suhail Ahmed of GDC Sumbal was adjudged the man of the match.
In a simple but impressive function at the end the Islamia College Principal Prof. Shiekh Aijaz Bashir gave away the award and thanked all the players for the participation.
The tournament which is being organized by Department of Physical Education Islamia College is sponsord by J&K Higher Education Department for promotion of Sports.
