District Anantnag qualified for Semis of Inter District Cricket Tournament Kashmir

In the ongoing Provincial Level Inter District Cricket Tournament Organized by Youth Services and Sports Department Kashmir, in today’s match District Anantnag qualified for the Semi Final by defeating District Shopian by 45 runs at Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Bijbehara Anantnag. The Tournament is meant for field officials of Youth Services and Sports Department. In the beginning of the match District Anantnag won the toss and elected to bat first. While batting first District Anantnag set the target of 157 runs on the board, in which Shiekh Mehraj played brilliant inning of 58 runs and Majid Padder also scored brilliant inning of 51 runs. Worth to mention here that Shaikh Mehraj who is the part of District Anantnag team has attended North Zone Camp in Cricket in 2007. He has also represented J&K in U-19 and U-22 age groups. He has scored century in his debut match in U-19 tournament for J&K. From bowling side Mehraj Ahmad took 2 wicket. In reply District Shopian failed to chase the target and lost the match by 46 runs. From Shopian side Mohd Saleem scored 22 runs and Nasir Ahmad scored brilliant 44 runs as highest. While from Anantnag side Shabir Rasool took 4 important wickets, Jahangir Vaid and Khurshid Misger took 2 Wickets each. Thus District Anantnag qualified for semis of the tournament in which Anantnag has to face District Kulgam on the 19th of this month.
