Degree College Baramulla team enter into semis

 

Degree College boys Baramulla Kashmir cruised into the semi-finals with a comprehensive 77 run victory over the Institute of Technology Zakura Campus in the second quarter-final of Prof. Yousuf Memorial Cricket tournament on Wednesday at Islamia College playfield.

Earlier, after winning the toss IOT Zakura captain invited Baramulla College to bat first and the team took full advantage of the average bowling and fielding of the IOT team. Baramulla batters piled up a huge total of 242 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 27 overs. Tahir Showkat misses a magnificent century and scored brilliant 99 runs in 73 balls and Imran Nabi 44 in 28 balls were the main architects of the Baramulla College innings. Sahil Majid and Owais Saba took two wickets each for IOT.

In reply, chasing a huge target of 243 runs in 27 allotted overs IOT lost their early wickets and were restricted on 165 runs only in 24.3 overs with 48 runs each by Saqib Reshii and Tasaduq as the main run-getter. For Baramulla College Mehraj Manzoor and Zubair took 3 wickets each. Tahir Showkat was declared player of the match.

On Thursday Gandhi Memorial College will play against GDC Pulwama in another quarter-final and GDC Anantnag will clash with GDC Bijbihara on Friday in the last quarter final. The tournament is being organized by the department of physical education Islamia College in memory of the ex-principal of the college Prof. Mohammed Yousuf.
