Meet Young Cricketer Of Kupwara Firdous Wani

Srinagar: 24 year old Firdous Wani hailing from Kupwara area of Kashmir. He is batting all-rounder and with his skills he is impressing the people on field as well as off field.

Wani started playing Cricket in the year 2010. He started working on his batting skills and his hard work could be seen in the matches he played. He has been scoring many Century’s and half Century’s for his team.

Wani also had to face many barriers during his practice session, be it in terms of studies or financially.

“When I started playing initially I was not able to manage my studies and had to face many difficulties during my exams”, Wani said

“Many times I also had no money when I used to play outside state”, he added

Wani has played with many clubs and many teams in the state and has always out shined in the matches like RCC Reds Sgr, Kupwara Victoria, Ram-hall Reds etc. He has played many nationals so far.

In the year 2017, Wani played many matches in which he out shined not in batting but proved himself fruitful in bowling skill as well for his team. His one of the best performances was seen in Ram-hall Champions League wherein he played 13 matches. His best score in batting order was 106 and remained not out whereas he took total 13 wickets in the tournament.

“Ram-hall Champions league was one of the important one for me because I gained confidence and encouragement that I could do more good for my team”, he said

Wani also participated in many tournaments throughout the year where his hard work and his courage made him among the best performers. Some of the tournaments were RCL, Trehgam Premier League, PPL, Magam Champions League etc.

Wani received inspiration of playing Cricket from his uncle who himself was a cricketer. He has lost his uncle in 1997 and since then Wani decided to complete his uncle’s dream of being a Cricketer.

“Cricket was in my genes and I always got inspired watching my uncle playing cricket”, he said

“When I lost my uncle,I started playing Cricket and decided to pursue his dream of being a Cricketer”, he added

Wani’s favorite Batsman is AB de villiers and DJ Bravo is his favorite bowler.

On being asked about his aim in life, Wani said

“I want be an international cricketer.
