Kartikeya Rawat’s masterclass show was too good for Bredman Sopore as they got hammered by BCC Reds by 9 wickets in the BCF Kashmir Cup on Monday here at Jhelum Stadium Baramulla.
A show of some brilliant stroke play from Kartikeya Rawat was witnessed today in BCF Kashmir Cup. He smashed a eye catching 38 ball 73 that helped his team go over the line.
Earlier on after winning the toss and opting to bat first Bredman Sopore batters were clueless against BCC Reds bowlers, they were unable to get any momentum into their innings. BCC bowlers caught them in a shell. Apart from Arbaz and the youngster Momin no batter could impress much. Arbaz scored a run a ball 38 while as Momin Injected some late blitz into Bredman Sopore’s innings with a 14 ball 26 that helped them to post a below par 129 runs on the board. BCC bowlers were excellent throughout the innings with Waseem Maddy being the pick of the bowlers, his figures were 2 for 16 in his 4 overs whereas Rafiq Baba and Tawseef Ramzan also shared a wicket each.
In reply, the Bredman’s total was always going to be below par, the BCC opening duo of Abid and Kartikeya made a mockery of the target, they went berserk from ball one as they raced to 70 in the powerplay before Aabid peer lost his wicket scoring a 16 ball 28. His dismissal did not affect Kartikeya’s approach as he kept tonking Bredman bowlers all around the carpet taking his side home with a thunderous unbeaten 38 ball 73 that included as many as 12 fours and a six. Sheikh Faheem too chipped in with an unbeaten 23. The Bredman bowlers were clueless apart from the youngster Momin who got a solitary wicket and gave away just 12 runs in his 4 overs.
Later at the post match presentation ceremony Kartikeya for his fireworks was given the player of the match award. With this win BCC Reds move to 2nd round while Bredman are out of the competition. The tournament is organised by BCF and is played on Turf wickets at Jehlum Stadium Baramulla.
