Karnataka defeated Jammu and Kashmir by 167 runs in the quater final
Jammu, Feb 24: Karnataka are through to semifinals after defeating Jammu and Kashmir by 167 runs in the quater final match here at Govt. Gandhi Memorial Science College ground, Jammu.
After 2 days of rain and 3 days of some emphetic cricket, Karnataka have come to emerge victorious and have qualified for semis yet again. On the other hand, JK have lost the golden opportunity of qualifying for the semis for the first time ever. Halfway till the match, JK were at the top but lost that momentum towards the middle where it mattered the most.
Karnataka only managed to score 206 runs in their first innings. J&K were cruising towards the total but the poor display of batting made it awefull for team. Karnataka took a valuable lead of 14 runs where even a 1 run lead was enough to change the matches course.
Earlier, on day-5 Karnataka started their second innings on day 5 at 245 for 4. J&K managed to get them all out but it was too late as they already had 330 runs lead.
Sidharth was again the top scorer as he missed a well deserved century. He got out after scoring valuable 98 runs. Sharath also scored 34 runs. From J&K side, Abid Mushtaq took a 6 wicket haul while Parveez Rasool also chipped in with 3 wickets.
In return, J&K had to go for the target only in the last days two sessions. Jk batters had to go from the word go but ended up losing the match by a huge margin of 167 runs. No one was able to score big. Shubam Khajuria and Shubham Pundir managed to score 30’s which was not good enough. K Gowtham was the pick of bowlers. He picked up 7 wickets.
Had JK managed to took a lead in first innings, it would have been a different story here.
At the end Siddharth of Karnataka was declared player of the match for his brilliant performance.
