J&K beat Goa in the All India Civil Services Tournament


J&K started with a thumping victory over Goa in the All India Civil Services Tournament (Men) being held at New Delhi.

Having won the toss, the Goa team decided to bowl first under foggy conditions. The team of J&K started badly and was reduced to 30 for 3 in 6 overs when Samiullah Beigh (former Ranji trophy captain of J&K ) and Akhil Salathia stitched a valuable partnership of 55 runs before Akhil was dismissed. Samiullah Beigh continued the onslaught with 4 towering sixes and scored 49 runs of 36 balls.

J&K cricket team under the leadership of Shaleen Kabra (IAS) put up a formidable score of 158 runs in 20 overs with Samiuallah Beigh – 49(36), Sami 39(23), Akhil Slathia -26 (23) and Naseer Rather -24(16) contributing significantly.

J&K Civil services team defended the score with exceptional display of bowling and fielding by the team with Abhinav Khajuria and Kapil taking 3 wickets each followed by Shaleen Kabra (2 wickets) and Sami Ullah (1 wicket) which result in Goa civil services team collapsed to 76 in 15.3 overs to suffer a massive defeat. Abhinav Khajuria was awarded as man of the match for his brilliant bowling spell .

The J&k team will play their next match on 18th December, 2023 .
