Syed Sajad’s 5 wicket haul go in Vain

In the ongoing Prof. Yousuf Memorial cricket tournament resumed here at Islamia College Cricket field on Friday, the GDC Anantnag overcame the challenge of GDC Tangmarg defeating them by one wicket in a keenly fought encounter.

Earlier, after winning the toss the Tangmarg captain decided to bat first and the team could score only 126 runs in 25 overs losing all wickets. Tanvir scored 37 runs not out and Saleem Reshi made 24. For Anantnag College Faizan was the most successful bowler taking 3 wickets while Owais and Ishfaq shared two wickets each.

In reply, chasing an easy target of 127 runs Anantnag lost early wickets but Oman’s 32 and Junaid’s 22 runs at crucial junctures took them over the line by just one wicket. For Tangmarg Syed Sajad shines with the ball taking 5 wickets while Saleem chipped in with 3. Syed Sajad of Tangmarag was adjudged the man of the match. On Saturday the host Islamia College will take on GDC Magam followed by Gandhi Memorial College versus GDC Handwara match on Sunday. The tournament is being organized by the Department of Physical Education Islamia College in memory of the college’s Late Prof. Mohammed Yousuf’s ex-principal.
