He’s a talent par with others: Meet Sarsheel Abbas

The world of cricket has seen many wicket-keeper batsmen who have made their mark. Sarsheel is a wicket-keeper batsman who never gave up his passion for the game of cricket. Sarsheel Abbas is a native of densely populated Downtown Srinagar. Since his childhood, he loved to play cricket and like everyone else in Kashmir he started to play gully cricket when he couldn’t even hold the bat but has set his eyes to make it big in the field of cricket, he started playing with a dream of being a successful cricketer. In the beginning, he didn’t find any support from his family even though his father and his brother were cricketers too.

But then things changed one day when his father witnessed his game in a local cricket ground where Sarsheel outplayed the opposite team and won the game for his team. From then on, his father saw a huge potential in him and started encouraging and supporting him at every step. Today his father hardly misses any game and always comes up to support him in and out of the stadium.

Sarsheel started his professional cricketing career in 2016 at the age of 14. Sarsheel Abbas has represented more than a couple of top cricket clubs in Kashmir which include RCC and ACC. Sarsheel Abbas currently plays in many premier cricket leagues of Kashmir Valley such as Burzahama, SSL, and a couple of more, and has already represented many teams in Elite Cricket Leagues of Jammu & Kashmir. One of the biggest achievements of Sarsheels’s career was when he scored unbeaten 189* in a 25 overs match against a very experienced team that had famous Ranji trophy players playing for that side and that score remains his highest score until now. Sarsheel doesn’t follow any famous international player rather he admires and follows two best in the game players from Kashmir Valley, Khalid Bhat and Waseem Raza from whom he has learned batting skills and cricketing methods respectively.

Talking about his plans, Sarsheel is optimistic about representing his state at the national level. But he also feels the lack of infrastructure for the game and other sporting activities in Kashmir Valley is disappointing and due to this, players don’t get the chance to express talent to the world. He also hopes, soon this will change and we will be able to show our talent at a very big level because Sky is the limit and I will not settle down for anything less. Sarsheel concluded!
