He can hit them long: Meet Sheikh Omar

Palhallan area of Baramulla is blessed with immense talent in cricket and football alike. One such Cricketer is Sheikh Omar, who is known for his brutal hitting of the leather. Locals call him the Power House. He is one of the best all-rounders Palhallan has ever produced.

Omar started to play Cricket professionally in 2008 and has never looked back. He has the potential to hit the ball anywhere on the ground and has impressed people across the Kashmir valley with his batting powers. In 2008, Omer played U16 Nationals and in that tournament, Omer won the player of the tournament award. From that onwards, he has only grown in stature over time. Omer has played in some big clubs of the Valley such as BCC Reds Baramulla, HK Cement Bandipora, PCC Pattan and presently is captain of the Star Palhallan team one of the reputed teams of North Kashmir.

Omar has scored countless fifties along with 27 hundred at different venues across the Kashmir valley. His best performance has come at his home ground where he smashed 148 runs against Tapper Warriors. Along the way, Omar has won countless Man of the matches and over 40 Man of the Series awards.

Omar is thankful to his family for supporting him in thin and thick. He is also thankful to Mohd Ashraf Gashroo who has coached along the way. Omar might not be where most cricketers want to be but he has created a different name of himself in the Cricket field.
