First International invitational online club taekwondo Poomsae championship 2020 held

July 25: Historic Virtual based online Championship of Taekwondo ‘Ist international invitational Online club Poomsae Taekwondo Championship 2020 organized by Atul International Taekwondo Academy (AITA) in collaboration with Korean Cultural Centre, India (KCC).

The event is being held under the banner of J&K Taekwondo Association (JKTA) and is sponsored by Universal Sports Industries, Jalandhar (USI). Around 64 clubs from 24 countries are participating in the said event. This is the first online-based event in India, where more than 250 athletes from around the world will be showcasing their skills.
The OC has appointed all International referees from around the World, which includes 4 Grand Masters i.e. Grand Master Satwinder Singh Vohra (England), Grand Master Baert Erik (Belgium), Grand Master Song Jae Seoung (Korea), Grand Master Lee Wan Yong (Korean Culture Centre, India) and Master Atul Pangotra (India). And we proudly present Ollin Medina (World Poomsae Champion) from Mexico, as our Brand Ambassador for the said championship.

Today the Opening Ceremony of the above-mentioned event commenced over Zoom, where all the Dignitaries and team Delegates from all the clubs graced the occasion. Mr Kim Kum Pyoung (Director Korean Culture Centre, India) was the event Chief Guest, and Shri Rouf Ahmad Bhat (President, JKCSNGEU)Sh. P. Achuta Reddy ( General Secretary, Andra Pradesh), Sh Anurag Chadda CEO, USI and Sh Deepak Handa (Social Activist), were Guest of Honour.

Later the auspicious Ceremony was graced by Jagjit Singh (Gen Secretary, JKTA), Shri. Nissar Hussain (V. President, JKTA), and Sh. Subash Shastri, President NMS, and Sh Ramesh Chander Sharma (Joint Secretary JKTA), Sh Satish Dhull Secretary-General Qwankido Federation of India as Special Guests.
Mr Anuj Sharma (Director AITA) proposed this championship as a club based, thus providing the athletes with a platform to compete during the ongoing crisis due to Covid-19. The event aims to give the athletes the exposure and experience they lack events on this online pattern. And it can prepare them well for future events too. He thanked the Director Korean Culture Centre, India Mr Kim Kum Pyoung for collaboration, J&K Taekwondo Association for support, and also Mr Anurag Chadda (CEO, USI) for sponsorship. The organizing committee has introduced an event for Para and the Humanitarian Foundation (THF) athletes too in our championship that too free, to promote them equally throughout the world.

D.N. Pangotra (President, JKTA) congratulated the team AITA for their handwork on organizing this historic Championship. He wishes the best for all the participants, who had enrolled for the said event.
