3×3 Women’s Basketball league concludes at Gindun sports center, Srinagar

The 3 day Women’s basketball league concluded at Gindun sports center, Srinagar on Sunday. The league was played under the strict Covid guidelines. The league was organized by Useeba Bashir and Adeena wani and sponsors for the league were: Parsa’s, Mad for Momos, The kingz landing, JK trading, charcoal pizza, Hybrid fitness, HS Gulall, Postle, Cafe Ababeel and Team Asif.

The Chief Guest of the occasion was the Kashmir’s first female basketball player, Dr. Zeenat.

On this occasion Dr. Zeenat appreciated the organisers for the event and encouraged the players who participated in the league.

“I congratulate both the organisers for such a great tournament for women and appreciate their hardwork and dedication towards the game”, she said

“I also congratulate the winners of the tournament and I hope that in future such leagues happen more often as they encourage women to showcase their talent,” she added

Noreen Shah was awarded MVP of the tournament.

The final match was played between Alley Oops and Hoopsters in which Team Alley Oops emerged victorious in the league.

Noreen Shah scored the highest points for her team and was awarded MVP of the tournament.

The organisers’ main aim in the tournament was to provide a platform for the women of the valley and give them an opportunity to hone the talent in them. They also thanked the sponsers for their support.

“Our main aim in organizing the tournament was to provide a platform for the women players after facing such stressful year.
This league would help them grow and encourage them for a new start “, Adeena wani one of the organizers of the league said

“I thank the sponsors for their unconditional support and encouragement throughout the league and special thanks to Jaleed Ashai for his support throughtout the leauge.”, she added

“These kind of opportunities are rarely provided to women especially and with such kind of platform we learn our flaws and try to perform better with each passing day”, Hadeeqa, a participating player said

“This league also helped us to come out of that painful phase that each one of us had gone through past year”, she added

The tournament had commenced on 15 January and lasted for 3 days. In the league around 35 female basketball players of the valley participated.
