Real Kashmir FC Created History

By Mohammad Haneef

Srinagar, June 03: Real Kashmir Football Club is an Indian professional football club based in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Real Kashmir competed as a member of the I-League 2nd Division, the second division of football in India. The club participated in their first national competition in September 2016 when they played in the 2016 Durand Cup. In July 2017 Real Kashmir FC became the first club from J&k to play on foreign soil. They played 4 matches in Scotland. Real Kashmir Football Club is the biggest private club of Jammu and Kashmir. Real Kashmir is participating in all four categories of AIFF’ I-League. The club is coached by Rangers FC legend David Robertson.

In this Video Have a look when Real Kashmir FC became Champions of 2nd Div I-League after winning the last play off match…..

This year was the best year for the club as they became the champions of prestigious football tournament of India 2nd division I league defeating Hindustan FC by 3:2 in the last Play off round match which was played at Bangluru and becomes the Champions of the 2nd Div I-League.

Real Kashmir FC has a blend of local National as well as foreign players. It is to be noted local players have always putted their hand up when needed in crunch situations. In J&K they have a tough competition against Lone star FC and J&K Bank football club.
With the emergence of new avenues for football players, football in Kashmir is taking giant steps forward. If u happen to travel to TRC Srinagar, you will see the zeal and zest in football players to do best. Before some years we didn’t have these big private clubs here but as the club’s are growing in stature, we are also seeing more and more youth taking part in sports specially in Football Last year,2 players from Kashmir played in Europe and they did well there. What we need here in Kashmir is right platform and exposure. If you are coached by someone from foreign, it automatically gives um you satisfaction that if I’m playing for this club, I’m on a right track. Personally I have watched Real kashmiris coach at TRC and his manners and way of approaching players is more like an international coach. He is friendly with everyone there.

When the News broke about Real Kashmir FC winning 2nd division I league, it spread like a storm in J&K unheard in early years, why shouldn’t it because they became the first ones to qualify from J&K to prominent Indian football league. Social media was buzzing about their title win with prominent names of India as well as state congratulating them. Whole of Footballing Family in J&K were celebrating their success. It will motivate more youth to take up football as their profession if guided rightly.
Let’s hope we see more stars from Kashmir like AB Majeed Kakroo, Mohd Shafi Nari, Mehraj-U-Din Wadoo, Ishfaq Ahmad etc etc.
